The Park Bench Project

Kearsney Interpreted

Art in the Park – Kearsney interpreted offers opportunities for a number of artists and poets in the form of the Park Bench Project:

““Since early on in the development of this project I have had a line, inspired by Peter Sarstead’s famous song, ringing in my head.

Oh Where do you go to my lovely when your alone in the Park?”  Joanna Jones

The aim of the project is to bring into focus the rich abundance and quality of creative practitioners now living and working in or connected to Dover.

Each participant will contribute a drawing, painting, collage, piece of writing or poetry or combination of these made while sitting on a park bench of their choice in Kearsney Abbey or Russell Gardens.

“Each park bench in Kearsney Abbey and Russell Gardens has a different view and each of contributor’s view from that bench will be different as they daydream, remember or become lost in the landscape and bring that experience onto a piece of paper”

The visual works will be brought into a new moving image video work together with an original soundtrack using performed pieces of the poetry and written word contributions to be premiered in Dover in 2019. The video will be streamed through Dover Arts Development’s vimeo platform and from the Kearsney Parks website and contributors will be able to embed the link on their own websites.
