Nicolas Deshayes is a sculptor who has lived and worked in Dover since 2018. He was educated at Chelsea College of Art and the Royal College of Art, London.

His sculptures draw on the anatomy of bodies and their environments – moving between soft and fluid, hard and mechanical. Working predominantly with casting techniques in metal, ceramic or glass, he explores forms that resonate with both biological systems and the industrial structures and objects that shape everyday

His work has been the subject of solo exhibitions at Modern Art, London (2022), Le Grand Café, Saint Nazaire, France (2022) ; Le Creux De L’Enfer, Thiers, France (2021−22); FRAC Grand Large, Dunkirk, France (2021−22); E‑werk, Luckenwalde, Germany (2019); Pumphouse Gallery, London (2018); Basement Roma, Rome, Italy (2018); Glasgow Sculpture Studios, Glasgow (2015); Tate, St. Ives, Cornwall (2015); S1 Artspace, Sheffield (2013) and Transmission Gallery, Glasgow (2010).

He has been included in numerous international exhibitions at institutions and museums including Milton Keynes Gallery (2023), Belgrade Biennale, Serbia in 2021; Museo Ca’ Pesaro, Venice, Italy (2019); Museion, Bolzano. In the UK, his work is held in the Tate collection and the Arts Council collection, and he is represented by Modern Art, London.

He became a DAD Guardian in September 2022 and continues that role with the 2024 DAD iteration.
