The DAD presence at the Geopark Festival on Saturday November 7th at Dover Castle consisted of:

Simon Bill reading from DOVER his book of 12 essays at St Mary’s in Castro.

Richard Bundy’s talk, at St Mary’s in Castro, explored how the Earths seismic shifts millions of years ago to subtle vibrations resonate through us. He showed how geological data can be transformed into sound through sonification, a method used by NASA and the British Geological Survey (BGS) to translate data into an audible form. In this way vast epochs of geological time can be experienced sonically in a few moments, revealing audible patterns often missed by other practices and how the Earth’s movements shape who we are.

 A Hole Story: Moore and Dover Written and narrated by Nicolas Deshayes at the Constables Tower.In this audio recording, artist Nicolas Deshayes explores the influence of place on Henry Moore’s work, drawing on his own move to the Dover coastline at the same age that Moore also lived there. Made while walking along Shakespeare’s Cliff, Deshayes considers how geological forms, the evolution of the chalk landscape and the casting process intersect within Moore’s sculptural language. This piece was originally commissioned by Henry Moore Studios & Gardens as part of  ‘Artist Stories’  where contemporary artists share their own experience of a Henry Moore encounter.
