you can reach the world from Dover 2023 Book Launch

DAD Festivals

On September 4th 2024 we held a launch event in the Vinoteq Wine Bar in Dover for the ‘you can reach the world from Dover festival 2023′ book.

The publication features all the artworks, happenings, walks and workshops that contributed to the 4-month arts festival in Dover last summer. It also includes  an essay by Simon Bill WHY DO THIS? from which he read at the book launch.

The publication marks the transition from the Dover Arts Development that Clare Smith and Joanna Jones created to its present iteration with Charles Holland, Edda Salander-Jones, Richard Bundy, Simon Bill and Joanna Jones as co directors and Nicolas Deshayes as guardian.

As well as creating some new partnerships the festival built on partnerships that Dover Arts Development formed over the last 18 years with the 50 projects DAD initiated in Dover. These have woven the arts into collaborations with existing organisations and venues, stretching the reach of the arts in terms of what constitutes ‘art’ and in terms of participants and audience. It has resulted in a network of partnerships of ‘trust’ many of which were involved in this festival.

All the artists, partners and contractors are listed in the Festival book. DAD has always had a policy of using its funding to support local businesses and for this festival it also supported artists who are all resident in Dover and Dover District or have a long history of investment in Dover.

Edda Salander Jones has been responsible for the DAD graphic branding from the founding of Dover Arts Development in 2006. Her clear graphics have given DAD a confident image with which to meet the world as well as a sophistication in terms of a reduced impactful design.

This Festival Book exemplifies that tradition – thank you Edda
