A Mediterranean plate
The first stitched plate for the project is inspired by a visit to Cafe Melange run by owner and chef Rafik and his wife Nadjia. The restaurant is named as a tribute to Rafik’s first job in the UK at Covent Garden for a nouvelle cuisine restaurant called Melange (Mix), which no longer exists.
Rafik has always wanted to set up his own restaurant and was determined to follow his dream despite Covid: “If I can get through this I can get through anything“.
The key to his delicious food lies in the “secret spices” he uses.
