R.I.P Christine Gist

It is a great sadness to have learnt of the passing of Christine Gist on March 19th 2025. Christine was the third partner of the original Dover Arts Development partnership with Clare Smith and Joanna Jones. They worked together on several cross channel projects including Transmettre/Transmit 2007 with Roy Smith, Olivier Michel, Sylvain Lainé, Joanna Jones, Johanne Huysman, Paul Chenour, Richard Bundy and Resider/Reside 2009, with artist Sharon Haward and Pierre Yves Brest, in St Omer in France and Dover. Christine moved away from East Kent to settle in Hastings and Clare and Joanna incorporated DAD as a not for profit company in 2008 with themselves as directors. DAD continued to work with Christine as a freelancer; her artistic and curatorial pratice was concerned with temporary site specific experiences which often took place outside a gallery context. She will be dearly missed by the very many artists that she worked with over the years. Our condolences to her son Damon, his wife Sophie and her grandson Aidan.
