DAD RADIO #12 | Dover meeting points
The final episode of DAD’s 12-week DAD RADIO pilot project with Dover Community Radio (DCR FM) considers community spirit and meeting points in Dover.
DAD RADIO co-curator Louisa Love discusses the work and evolution of Dover Big Local with DBL chair & artist Anita Luckett and we hear about the weekly DBL singing group led by Veronica ‘Ronnie’ Tutthill which has been running via Zoom during the pandemic (Thursdays at 5pm – see DBL Facebook page for link).
Also featured are new poetry readings from Caroline Fox Betts & Peter Donnelly of the Dover poetry writers group Beach Bards, recorded at the group’s latest gathering on 15th June.
‘Look Towards the Sky’ is a song written during lockdown in April 2020 by Veronica Tutthill, performed & produced by Rachel Gerrard. “Written in light of the current Covid-19 pandemic, ‘Look towards the sky,’ aims to give us all a sense of hope as the whole World gets through this difficult and unique time. We have all been affected in different ways and if this track, part of it, or one line of it, can get one person through one day in isolation, accompany them during their daily exercise, or be with them at any other part of their day, then the song has been a success. ‘Stay strong and brave.‘”
DAD RADIO #12 also features audio extracts from the DAD4DADS 6 Ways to Wellbeing project delivered by Dover Arts Development (DAD) & Jasmin Vardimon Company in 2014.
Curated and presented by Louisa Love & Louise Webb. DAD RADIO airs on Dover Community Radio (DCR FM) on Fridays 7-7.30pm with repeats on Mondays 9-9.30am – tune in via dcrfm.co.uk or the Radio Garden app.
