Áine Belton
Áine Belton originates from County Meath, Ireland. She has been living and working in Ontario, Canada since late December 2015. Áine completed her M.A. in Fine Art at UCA Canterbury in 2012. She received her B.A. in Fine Art from I.A.D.T., in Dun Laoghaire, Dublin (Institute of Art, Design and Technology) in 2009. She was a member of the CRATE and UCA project Collaborative Research Group (CRG) from 2013-2015. Áine works as the Marketing Coordinator in the Visual Arts Centre of Clarington and enjoys cycling, travel, book-making and collage poetry. She was co-editor of ESC Zine – an independent arts and literary zine, from 2011-2019.
In 2019, her collage poetry was featured in the anthology Wretched Strangers published by Boiler House Press. In 2017 she was awarded funding from Art Starts from their Micro-grant programme. Áine utilised this grant to create a photobook from doing a collaborative community project called “Double Exposure – Portrait Series: Cyclists of Toronto”. Selected artworks are in the collection of UCA Canterbury as well as other private collections in the UK and Ireland. She has been featured in North York Arts Evolution exhibition (2017), DAD’s 10th Anniversary concert and exhibition (2016), Limbo’s Associate Member Show (2014), PhotoIreland Festival (2013), The European Media Arts Festival (2013) as well as in the literary publications Viersomes 004, No-wave magazine, Cracked on the Rock Zine, Oh Francis and Splinter magazine.
