Come and gather under the cool shade of the fig tree in the garden of artist Joanna Jones. As the public facing event of her Dover Residency Maia Magoga will share some folk tales related to the fig tree and also recount some of the medicinal properties of both the fruit and the leaves. In the Urban Room with the HARVEST MOON table, you will learn to make fig leaf syrup and also to make an offering for the tree in the style of a greek tamata – an engraved tin votive.

HARVEST MOON is built from chalk, gypsum, lime, split-chestnut palings, grubbed up apple tree branches, bailing twine and pallet straps, gleaned from local rural businesses. It is intended to be at the centre of curated events, gathering people and ideas together. It is built by Local Works Studio and Charles Holland & Cat Rossi, Professors of Architecture at University of the Creative Arts (UCA), Canterbury School of Art, Architecture and Design.
