Artist Maia Magoga invited participants to come and gather under the cool shade of the fig tree in the garden of Joanna Jones.  As the public facing event of her Dover Residency Maia shared some folk tales related to the fig tree, recounted some of the medicinal properties of both the fruit and the leaves and led the group on a meditation.

In the Urban Room with the HARVEST MOON table, she demonstrated making  fig leaf syrup and making an offering for the tree in the style of a greek tamata – an engraved tin votive- which everyone then made. HARVEST MOON is built from chalk, gypsum, lime, split-chestnut palings, grubbed up apple tree branches, bailing twine and pallet straps, gleaned from local rural businesses. It is intended to be at the centre of curated events, gathering people and ideas together. It is built by Local Works Studio and Charles Holland & Cat Rossi, Professors of Architecture at University of the Creative Arts (UCA), Canterbury School of Art, Architecture and Design.
