DAD RADIO #17 | Forgotten Dover

DAD RADIO Ep #17 features an in-conversation with DAD Digital Festival writer in residence Simon Bill, who discusses his exploratory walking and writing practice in Dover and re-charts his ‘Forgotten Dover’ artist-led walk (21st Aug 2021), a highly well received event which led a group of 23 participants on a highly off-piste tour of some of Dover’s most hidden and overlooked treasures.

“Dover is a small town with two well-known and excellent historic tourist destinations, the Castle and the White Cliffs. But there are dozens of fascinating places within easy walking distance of the town centre that even many native ‘Dovorians’ don’t know about – the derelict and overgrown Napoleonic fort, mysterious chalk caves, abandoned cliff-top allotments, the Regency folly, the ruined medieval chapels, picturesque churchyards, the crumbling WW2 pillboxes and observation bunkers…”

Featuring a loose collage of field recordings taken on the walk by sound artist and DAD RADIO co-curator Louisa Love.

Curated, presented and produced by Louisa Love + Louise Webb for the DAD Digital Festival 2021 at, funded by Arts Council England. First broadcast on Dover Community Radio (DCR FM) on 10th September 2021.
