Rachel Sale
Rachel Sale (born in London in 1988) is a socially-engaged artist, designer and facilitator.
In 2019, after graduating from the Royal College of Art with a MA in Visual Communication, she co-founded F.A.T. Studio CIC, a community-focused arts organisation that runs out of a shop space on Old Kent Road, South East London. Over the last 7 years at F.A.T. Studio, Rachel has been leading co-creation projects with local residents, ranging from skill-exchange programmes, to talent shows, to a local newspaper called Neighbours.
In 2024, she was Illustrator-in-residence at the V&A Museum, where she explored illustration as a method for building self-compassion, community, and visions of the future. Since then, she’s been back on Old Kent Road working with her neighbours on participatory art projects that focus on collective dreaming and the development of community infrastructure that supports sustainable living. She’s currently working with friends to build a community fruit press.
Rachel is also keen to connect with life and communities outside of London and has recently teamed up with artist Joanna Jones Co-founder of DAD to develop the DOVER Residency programme.
