R.I.P. Carole Day
We are very sad to hear of Carole’s passing on July 11th 2025 after a 2 year illness.
Carole Day completed her MA in Fine Art at The University for the Creative Arts, Canterbury in 2014. She created sculptures and facilitated community installation projects using natural materials such as pebbles, flowers, and vegetation. She is also interested in printmaking, drawing in all media, and working with textiles; her current work incorporates these with creative writing to explore ideas of heritage, memory, and loss, chronicling her path through time in words and images.
Carole continued to take part in several DAD drawing and stitching projects including the DAD Artists at home, a lockdown project part of WHAT NEXT?, and with the two beautiful plates she sewed for the DAD ‘Threading Together‘ project inspired by memories of her parents:.
When the world was a happier place and we were more inclined to travel, my husband and myself used to visit Crete every year, where we have friends. My Dad, sadly no longer here with us, would always give us a few ‘quid’ to buy our favourite Lobster meal, which we would enjoy in a beachside Taverna, watching the sun going down over the lapping tide. This work is my way of remembering him, his kindness, love, and care. Cheers, Dad
My Mum was a wonderful baker and one of her specialities was Blackberry and Apple Pie with custard. We had an apple tree and blackberry bushes in the garden, and she would send us children out to pick them. Then, later that day, we would have a tasty treat for our tea. I have often tried to bake a pie like my Mum, but it is never so good. Her pastry was as light as a feather and melted in the mouth. This is my tribute to my Mum, she loved me and taught me to love myself.
Our condolences go to Carole’s two sisters, Jan and Gill, and brother Graham Day
