Animating the Way to Rio

Schools and arts award

John Dargan met some of the young leaders at Astor College today (9 March 2016) and talked to them and their teachers about creating an animation based on the story of Tom Ransley’s journey to Rio, following his bronze medal in London in 2012.

The young leaders at both Astor College and St Mary’s CofE Dover will be sharing their ideas with pupils and teachers at the other schools taking part in the project between now and July 2016.

John explained that there were 5 ways of animating an image and students will be getting an opportunity to try these for themselves and apply them to the final animated narrative.

“An inspiring, productive afternoon at work today with John Dargan, Ally Trelfer Gwion Matthews Crow and Clare Smith working out a bit of the nitty gritty for the Ways to Rio project. Love my job!!” (Petra Matthews Crow)
