Andrew Cross

Andrew Cross is a visual artist and writer who has a particular interest in journeys and transport infrastructures. Andrew is the subject of the documentary film Ferroequinology (2021 dir. Alex Nevill) which follows him on a journey across the Nevada desert in pursuit of freight trains. His book of photographs Some Trains in America was published in 2002 and in 2014 the National Railway Museum staged an exhibition of his railway moving image work. In 2004 he produced An English Journey which examines the post-industrial landscape of England seen from the vantage point of a heavy goods vehicle driver’s cab. In 2006 he was commissioned to make a moving image work marking the opening of HS1 from the Channel to St Pancras International.
