‘In a dark day’s light’

With shops largely closed and many items suddenly in short supply it may seem an odd thing to make a shopping bag, but it felt like creating a link to a more normal time. While our collective focus largely turned inwards, I too concentrated on my own life and memories. A box with old dresses my late mother made in the 70s, a dark gray day and some elephant printed fabric brought the image of wildlife taking over our cities during lockdown.

The three bags each have a cityscape collage of fabrics and stitching, with a short poem written on the inside.

‘On the bright side…’

…started as a challenge to think of the bright side of life. A bright fabric collage book, handstitched with coloured paper, created in the confined space of the garden at home.
